“If one person can achieve such a transformation, why not believe all people can? Everyone deserves that chance.”– Amy O’Dell, Founder & CEO, The Jacob’s Ladder Group

ATLANTA 8/11/2025 – In partnership with Lori Geary of Lexicon Strategies, The Jacob’s Ladder Group is proud to announce the release of Jeremy’s Journey, a documentary on the remarkable recovery of Jeremy and how The Jacob’s Ladder Group’s Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® (IWBMC™) was the catalyst for his transformative healing.

Jeremy, a brilliant high school student and athlete, collapsed in full cardiac arrest while playing soccer. Jeremy was resuscitated on the field, but he suffered hypoxic brain damage and remained in a coma for two weeks. In 2014, after medical professionals provided a grim prognosis with little to no hope for recovery, Jeremy and his family came to Jacob’s Ladder looking for help.

When Jeremy arrived at Jacob’s Ladder, he had minimal language skills, being unable to recall his ABCs. He couldn’t identify his parents, and he struggled physically to walk without support. Essentially, having to start all over after such a traumatic incident, this once-thriving young man had seemingly lost everything. “They had already maxed out anything that the traditional offerings had to offer for someone coming out of a complex coma,” Amy O’Dell shares.

The team at Jacob’s Ladder used the IWBMC™ Evaluation to comprehensively assess Jeremy’s unique needs. Using their whole-brain, whole-person approach, a customized rehabilitation plan was specifically created for Jeremy. His time at Jacob’s Ladder consisted of intensive therapeutic care, ensuring local and international providers were trained using the IWBMC™ methodology. Local team members also traveled to Hong Kong, where Jeremy’s family resided, to ensure continuity in his care. IWBMC™ Evaluators tracked and reviewed his progress remotely through Jacob’s Ladder’s Community of Care program.

After working diligently with Jeremy and his support team for five years, the results were nothing short of miraculous. Jeremy gradually regained all functionality. He returned to school, secured employment in the restaurant industry, and even returned to competitive sports. Videos show him confidently bicycling through the streets of France —a testament to human resilience when given the optimal support. Jeremy also got married to his sweetheart in 2024 and had a reception to celebrate in 2025. The documentary highlights Jeremy and Anna Lou living a beautiful life together.

Jeremy’s journey demonstrates the power of personalized, persistent intervention and care, as well as the brain’s extraordinary ability to change when given the right stimulation at the appropriate frequency. When traditional rehabilitation options had reached their limits, the IWBMC™ approach, paired with Jeremy, his family, and his care team’s perseverance and dedication, truly facilitated his profound recovery.

“If one person can achieve such a transformation, why not believe all people can? Everyone deserves that chance,” reflects O’Dell.

Lives like Jeremy’s, which undergo complete transformations, are a reminder that behind every success story lies countless hours of devoted work. But the reward—a life reclaimed and renewed—makes every effort worthwhile.

We would like to extend a tremendous thank you to Jackson Healthcare for the support in creating this video.
